Unlocking the Hidden Gems of London: Tips, Tricks, and Must-See Locations

london hidden gems

Hello Traveler’s, Today we’re going to be talking about Hidden Gems of London. I’m going to be giving you a few tips and tricks that might make your trip a little bit easier.

Firstly, if you’re going to be traveling around London, make sure you get an Oyster card. These can be used on both buses and tubes, and will save you both money and time. You can get these online, or if you’re coming into London by train, go to the tourist information desk at the train station, and they’ll be able to sort you out with one. As we walk around London, you’ll see some absolutely gorgeous vehicles.

One thing that’s really important when you’re in a new city is to have a map on you, just in case your phone dies or you don’t have any internet signal. You can often find maps outside bus stops, and they’re really useful for figuring out where you are and where you need to be.

Chelsea Game

If you’re a football fan, you’ll want to head to a Hidden Gems of London that is Stamford Bridge to catch a Chelsea game. But if you’re in the area and want a drink, there are plenty of bars and nice restaurants to choose from. The Chelsea Pensioner is a great sports pub to watch football, and there’s also a lovely pub called The Fox and Pheasant nearby.

If you’re looking for a nice walk from the Chelsea or Fulham area to Kensington, I’d recommend taking a stroll through Brompton Cemetery. It might seem odd to recommend a cemetery, but it’s actually a really beautiful spot and a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of London.

Belgravia

I’d like to recommend a few areas to check out while you’re in London. Belgravia is one of the most affluent areas in the world, and it’s full of embassies and beautiful buildings. Knightsbridge is also lovely, with plenty of high-end shops, restaurants, and cobbled streets to explore.

I hope these tips and tricks have been helpful for those of you who are planning a trip to London. If you’ve never been before, I highly recommend it – it’s an incredible city with so much to see and do.

Holland Park

As I walked through I see another Hidden Gems of London is Holland Park, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of familiarity. This was partly because I had stayed in a hostel located in the park called Safe Stay for a period of one to two months. Safe Stay was quite affordable at around 20 quid per night, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to be around West London.

I used to work as a new breach driver in Oxford Street for a few years, and I used to live in this hostel up here. I would cycle up and down this path so many times every day to work. The nice thing about Holland Park is that it has a sports field. In the spring and summer, it is absolutely heaving full of people playing cricket, football, and tennis.

There are even batting cages for cricket, street workout equipment, and golf practice nets. Although I stayed in Holland Park for a couple of months, I never actually got the chance to explore it, so everything felt quite new to me.

Parks in London have opening and closing times, especially in summer when they may be open later. It is important to research when the parks close, especially if you’re a tourist in London. Google Maps may indicate that you can walk through a park, but sometimes you can’t because it’s shut.

After exploring the park and the Fukushima Garden, I headed to the Safe Stay hostel, but I couldn’t go inside since I was not staying there. Safe Stay has all dormitory rooms, and though I did get bed bugs here, it is still a recommended hostel because of its location. You cannot really beat the location, and during the week, you can probably get a dormitory room for around 20 pounds a night, which is unbelievably cheap for London.

I enjoyed my time in Holland Park, but I knew I had to move on to my next destination. As I walked north through Holland Park on the cycle path and park, I ended up in Notting Hill. It is a great place to walk around and look at houses you can’t afford. Portobello Road in Notting Hill is a great place to eat, drink, and buy clothes, especially during the weekends.

Though Thai restaurants in Notting Hill, I must mention Brown Rice, a really good, cheap restaurant that is worth visiting. All in all, I really enjoyed walking around London and exploring places I didn’t know.

Conclusion

In conclusion, if you’re planning to take flights to London, I hope these tips and tricks have been helpful for making your trip a little bit easier. Remember to get an Oyster card for traveling around the city, carry a map with you. And, Explore some of the beautiful areas and parks that London has to offer.
