Himachal Weather: Heavy rain and snowfall affected life in Lahaul-Spiti and Shimla, minimum temperature reached minus degree Celsius.
Due to continuous heavy rains and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, the miseries of common people are increasing. Along with the capital of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla, the minimum temperature of seven other areas has been recorded in minus by IMD Shimla. According to the latest report of the State Operation Center, as of 10:00 am on Monday, a total of 654 roads along with four national highways in the state have been blocked for traffic. Till now, maximum 290 roads in the tribal Lahaul-Spiti district and 166 roads in the capital Shimla have been blocked for traffic. Along with this, 1,655 electricity transformers have failed in the state, and 145 drinking water schemes have also been completely affected.
Reaching the board examination center is no less than a challenge for the students of rain and snowfall areas of Kullu, Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Shimla, Sirmaur, Mandi districts of Himachal Pradesh. Also, heavy rain and snowfall has been predicted in many areas of the state on March 6 and 7. Apart from this, IMD Shimla has predicted clear weather in the state from March 8 to March 9. In the capital of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla and all other areas, today there will be light sunshine with cloudy sky and it can be expected to worsen in the evening.
Dark hill due to landslide on Chamba-Khajjiar road, road closed –
Due to heavy landslide near Gajnui on Chamba-Khajjiar road of Himachal Pradesh, the entire road has been completely blocked for traffic. Due to the cracking of the hill on the Chamba-Khajjiar road, tons of debris and sharp rocks are falling on the entire road. Pedestrians are facing huge difficulties in moving on the road. Due to the closure of the road, Chamba and Khajjiar areas. Thousands of Panchayats have been completely cut off from the district headquarters Chamba. As soon as information about landslide on Chamba-Khajjiar road was received, Public Works Department teams reached the spot and are busy in restoring the entire road as soon as possible.
L&T operator died on the spot due to falling of sharp rocks due to landslide in Nigulsari of Kinnaur district –
On the other hand, an L&T operator died on the spot when a sharp stone suddenly fell from the hill while restoring the road closed due to heavy landslide in Nigulsari in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. The deceased L&T operator has been identified as Madan (27), son of Krishna Lal, resident of district Kullu.

955 percent more rainfall than normal was recorded in the state in one day –

The highest rainfall since 2015 has been recorded by IMD Shimla in Nahan city. After almost nine years, 83.3 mm rainfall has been recorded by IMD Shimla in Nahan city. In the year 2015, 116 mm rainfall in Nahan town was recorded by IMD Shimla. Dharamshala in Kangra district has recorded the highest rainfall after almost three years. In the year 2020, 152 mm rainfall was recorded in Dharamshala and in the last 24 hours, 55 mm rainfall has been recorded in Dharamshala.
Chief Director of Meteorological Center, Shimla, Dr. Surendra Paul told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that due to the continuously increasing activity of western disturbance in Himachal Pradesh, more than normal rainfall has been recorded by IMD Shimla in the entire Himachal Pradesh. He said that slight change in the weather in the state in the next two days has been predicted by IMD Shimla.
Strawberry and wheat crops suffered huge losses due to hailstorm and storm in the state –
Strawberry, wheat and pea crops have suffered huge damage due to hailstorm and thunderstorm in Himachal Pradesh. Due to continuous heavy snowfall in the higher reaches of the state, there is hope among the gardeners for a bumper crop of apples. In all other areas of Himachal Pradesh including Sirmaur, Solan, Dharamshala and Nahan, wheat crops have suffered huge damage due to hailstorm and thunderstorm on Sunday. Due to fresh snowfall in many areas of Kinnaur district, the hope of getting a bumper crop of apples after the end of the chilling hours has arisen among the gardeners. Strawberry and wheat crops have suffered huge damage due to heavy hailstorm and rain in more than half a dozen villages of Paonta Sahib subdivision of Sirmaur district. Besides, strawberry growers are also facing huge losses due to hailstorm and rain in the beginning of strawberry season.
Former Panchayat head Pipliwala Panchayat Zulfkar Ali, former BDC members Mishrawala Fariz Khan, Bhajan Chaudhary and Mukesh Kumar told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that the strawberry crop has suffered huge damage due to hailstorm and rain. Strawberry crop has also suffered heavy damage in Sainwala, Gunglo, Surajpur, Kiratpur, Pipliwala, Kyarda, Melio Mishrawala, Behdewala and Bhagwanpur of Paonta in Sirmaur district. Strawberry plants had just started bearing fruits, and due to strong winds and hailstorm in Chail and industrial area BBN of the district, wheat crop has suffered huge losses. Wheat crop was grown by farmers on more than 11 thousand hectares of land in the industrial area BBN, which has been completely destroyed due to hailstorm and heavy rains.
On the other hand, hailstorm along with strong winds continues in the hilly area Chail. Pea crop has also been completely affected due to hailstorm.
State President of Apple, Vegetable and Flower Producers Association in Himachal Pradesh, Harish Chauhan told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that after heavy rains and snowfall in the state, all conditions have become favorable for a good apple crop.
The student reached the examination center after walking a distance of more than four kilometers amidst heavy snowfall –
Normal life has been completely disrupted due to heavy snowfall in Lahaul tribal area of Himachal Pradesh. Due to which the students of Lahaul Valley have to face a lot of difficulties in reaching the examination center while appearing for the annual examination. On Monday, a student from Khangsar village reached the examination center Gondhala after walking a distance of more than four kilometers amidst heavy snowfall to appear for the 12th board examination. While reaching the examination centre, the father of the class 12 student was also with her. On the other hand, there has been a power blackout in Lahaul Valley since Saturday.
