European Vacation

You’ve finally made it. You are standing at the gates of Europe and you’re ready to explore 10 gorgeous countries in 10 days or less. The question is, how can you make your European vacation a truly memorable experience?

The 10 top European destinations are:

  • Paris, France
  • Rome, Italy
  • Madrid Spain
  • Amsterdam, Netherlands

And the rest of Europe.

The 10 best places to visit in Europe are some of the most visited cities from around the world and each one has something unique about them. To narrow down your list you’ll want to consider what interests you have and give consideration as well for how much time you’re willing to spend travelling because more attractions means a longer travel time. Remember that if there’s any place worth visiting twice it is always worth considering going back again during different times so take note of when seasons change! You don’t need us telling you already know but we will say this one last thing: 10 days is not enough to visit 10 countries so don’t take it for granted and make sure you are grateful for the memories.

1) Dress for the Occasion

When visiting France, Italy, Greece or any other country that requires dressing up formally, do so! Dressing well will show respect and appreciation for their culture.

2) Be Open-Minded

Don’t be afraid to try new things while on your trip. Visit places off the beaten path instead of going straight for the tourist attractions; one of my favorite memories is from Berlin where I saw a group play swing music in the middle of a public square.

3) Speak the Language

Even if you’re just trying to say hello, it’s always good etiquette to try and learn a few words in the language.

4) Mind Your Manners

This is true for any country you visit, but it’s especially important in Europe. Please remember that the social customs of these 10 countries can be vastly different than those at home so don’t assume anything.

5) Be a Good Tourist

When visiting famous attractions, remember to be respectful of the other tourists around you. Don’t rush ahead in lines or touch statues without permission and don’t steal anything!

6) Respect the Locals

It’s important to show that you care about their culture, even if they aren’t as welcoming. If someone is being rude or unhelpful then know it might be because of cultural differences (not personal).

7) Don’t Buy Anything Illegal

It’s illegal to buy drugs in any country, even if some of these 10 countries allow recreational use. If you are caught with contraband then not only will they confiscate the item but there can be serious consequences for an American citizen like a fine or even jail time!

8) Don’t Drink and Drive

It’s hard to believe that 10 people die every day in the U.S. because of drunk drivers on our country roads, but Europe is even worse with an average of 10-12 deaths per day from alcohol related crashes!

9) Don’t Be Rude

Europeans are very friendly and welcoming people! Remember to be polite, even if you get frustrated at a 10-hour line.

10) Keep an Open Mind

Europe is full of amazing places that will make your trip unforgettable but it’s important not to take these 10 days for granted or expect the best in all 10 countries every time. The memories from traveling often come after hours spent waiting in lines or trying new foods so have fun with it!
