1. Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art

The Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art houses a world-class collection of art dating from early American history to the current day. Georgia O’Keeffe, Gilbert Stuart, and Julie Mehretu are among the more well-known featured painters. The exhibit was by Alice Walton, the daughter of Walmart founder Sam Walton, and is open to the public for free.   

2. Crater of Diamonds State Park

Crater of Diamonds State Park, located outside Murfreesboro in southwestern Arkansas, is one of the world’s only public diamond-bearing locations. You can bring your own tools or rent some from the park, and you get to keep whatever you discover. Since it became a state park in 1972, people have found more than 33,100 diamonds, including Uncle Sam, the largest diamond ever discovered in the United States, and the Strawn-Wagner Diamond, which some consider being the world’s only perfect diamond.

3. Thorncrown Chapel

Thorncrown Chapel is in the forests outside of Eureka Springs. This glass-enclosed sanctuary, which debuted in 1980, has been as one of the world’s most beautiful and inspiring chapels. The building is of wood and has 425 windows with a total area of over 6,000 square feet of glass. Even if you’re inside with air cooling, you’ll feel like you’re in the middle of the Ozark Forest. Even if you’re only stopping for a few minutes, the peaceful environment allows you to connect with nature. Thorncrown Chapel is also a favourite wedding venue.

4. Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge

Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge was to provide a safe haven for big cats that have been, neglected, or tortured, such as tigers, lions, cougars, leopards, ligers, servals, and bobcats. Also, to the feline residents, guests will be able to get up close and personal with bears, a coatimundi, and a macaw. The 460-acre sanctuary within Eureka Springs focuses on creatures that became homeless as a result of the exotic animal trade; the refuge’s aim is to tighten regulations for the exotic animal trade and big cat ownership and cut the need for sanctuaries like Turpentine Creek. 

5. Little Rock Central High School

On September 23, 1957, an angry mob protesting racial integration stopped nine Black teens, known as the Little Rock Nine, from entering the all-white Little Rock Central High School. Little Rock was the first major test of how the country would execute the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in the 1954 Brown v. Case before the Board of Education to desegregate public institutions. 

6. Hot Springs National Park

Hot Springs National Park is the earliest national park in the United States, predating Yellowstone by 40 years. The park, which is on Hot waters Mountain, contains 47 thermal glasses of water. While you cannot swim in any of the outdoor springs, you can consume the water and fill up a water bottle or jug at one of several fountains. Visitors say the park is great for relaxing and enjoying the spa experience, but they also suggest going out into nature and hiking.
