There are thousands of treks in India, but most of them are seasonal and tough, demanding mountaineering skills. 1. Laka Glacier Trek

If I were to think of any winter trek, especially for beginners, then my first favourite would be the Triund and Laka glacier treks. Least marketed but one of the most beautiful winter treks in the range of 10,500 feet. This trek will offer you breathtaking scenery along a thrilling adventure trek route. If you have limited time or no prior trekking experience, then you should opt for this trek. This 16-kilometer trek, starting from Mcleodganj (Dharamshala), will give you goosebumps at many places along the route, and the bold Dhauladhar range will accompany you throughout your journey.

2. Kedarkantha Trek

Kedarkantha is one of the most famous and beautiful winter treks in India. The summit climb and 360-degree view from the summit make it the most popular trek. Starting from Sankri village, this trek will take you to Juda Ka Talab, which is believed to be the meditating ground of Lord Shiva. Then we move to Kedarkantha base camp, and the next day we give a summit push that starts at 2 AM with the aim of reaching the summit before sunrise. The view of the sunrise from the Kedarkantha trek will leave you amazed. Located at an altitude of 12,500 feet above sea level, this trek attracts thousands of trekkers every year.

3. Kareri Lake Trek

Located at an altitude of 10,800 feet above sea level and about 9 km from Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh), this is another gem of the Himalaya that you can try this winter season. This beautiful and exciting trek will take you through the dense forest of oak and deodar and ultimately to the beautiful lake, Kareri Lake, which is also called Kareri Dal by locals. The perfect blend of the beautiful views from the Dhauladhar range and Kareri lake make it one of the best and most demanded treks in India.

A dip in Parvati Kund (a hot water spring) will cure your pain from trekking. Located at 9700 feet above sea level, it is a marvel of trekking and a boon to adventure lovers. The trails of this trek will take you through dense forests, deep valleys, freshwater streams, and beautiful waterfalls.

5. Kuari Pass Winter Trek

Lord Curzon’s favourite trek will give you a chance to get a close look at some of the highest peaks in the Himalayas, like Trishul, Chaukhambh, Kamet, etc.
Located in the Chamoli district at an altitude of 14,520 feet above sea level, this is one of the most amazing treks and is recommended for regular trekkers.

It starts from Pantwari village, which is located at a distance of 100 km from the state headquarters at Dehradun. Although a small trek, the trails of the Nag Tibba trek will take you through dense forest and some lonely settlements.

Even the creator of earth, Lord Brahma, had selected this place for meditation, and hence this place got its name as Brahmatal Trek. One of the marvellous treks offers a close view of some of the highest peaks of the Himalayas, like Mt. Trishul, Nangagunti, etc. So if you also want to meditate and feel the divine presence of the almighty, then this should be your top priority.
